Short Term Program Information for Faculty

Looking to start a brand-new Short-Term Faculty-Led program overseas? See our Short Term Program Steps One-Pager and fill out our Concept Proposal Survey.
Looking to run an established program again? See our 4 steps for repeating a previously-approved Short Term Trip.

Faculty planning travel with students for more than one week (including but not limited to an academic course, research, site visit, service learning, volunteer work, internship, or conference) must submit to the Provost and the Global Education Office a Concept Proposal Form.  For those of you planning to run a returning faculty-led short-term program, please notify GEO.. We are ready to assist you in the planning process. For those of you planning to develop a new program, we ask you to fill out the Concept Proposal Form  and email the main GEO inbox to be added to the Canvas site for short-term programs if you do not already have access. If you are seeking to learn more about how to create a new program, please send GEO an email, and we will be glad to set up a meeting with you to guide you through the process.

Once your program is approved by both GEO and the Provost's Office, you and your students need to complete waivers to ensure that you are covered by Washington College's travel insurance. These forms are all available through the Canvas course. You will also need to submit names, contact information, and emergency contacts for every participant to both GEO and Sue Groff.

If you are currently enrolled in the Short-Term WAC Trips Canvas course, please look there for the current documentation and instructions available. If you would like to be added to this Canvas course, please email geo@washcoll.edu.
