This document outlines the estimated costs of studying abroad for one semester during the 2017-2018 academic year.   Students who will be studying on this program for the entire academic year should double relevant costs listed above (example: meals). For students studying abroad for two consecutive semesters compromising a full academic year, the Off Campus Study Fee is only assessed one time. In addition to the costs listed above, all Washington College students studying abroad pay Washington College tuition to Washington College for the semester abroad. All scholarships, grants, and loans stay active while abroad through a Washington College exchange program.

Special Notes:

• Off-Campus Study Fee:  $200 of this fee is paid as the deposit to study abroad.  The remainder will be billed to the Washington College student account for the semester abroad.
• Required Disposable Income:  Minimum is $770 / month; student with financial aid should be able to use financial aid to cover this amount; however, they still need to show a bank account of at least $120 per month or $480 for a semester 
• Room/Board:  As part of the full exchange, students are given 600 euro per month directly to help cover the cost of their housing and food; students have already paid this amount to Washington College.
• Housing Deposit: Price listed is for the €300 deposit and €administrative fee for a shared apartment. There is an additional €100 for a studio.
• Immigration - Permit of Stay: The student visa for Finland is submitted to the foreign Consular Office prior to departure; the registration fee is €450 for a paper application or €350 for an electronic application.
