University Overview

EKUT is located in Tübingen, which is in southern Germany near Stuttgart. The University was founded in 1477 and holds a distinguished place in the intellectual life in Germany. EKUT is considered one of the oldest universities in Europe. The University has 25,000 students living in a comparatively small city of 85,000. The University’s academic reputation is based on the research achievements of many of its scholars. EKUT offers over 280 courses taught by approximately 450 professors and more than 4,000 scientists. Campus facilities include some of the most advanced technical equipment and extensive library facilities. EKUT’s character is marked by an awareness of tradition and a cosmopolitan atmosphere. Many like to consider EKUT to be the first university with International roots: “International since 1477”, a short way to sum up the history of this old and predigest school.

Program Overview

Classes will be taught by EKUT faculty members. The exchange student advising is done by the International Relations Office.

Note that while some classes are taught in English, you are required to have German proficiency in order to study at EKU.

Location

The city of Tübingen may be small, but once you experience this city’s metropolitan climate mixed with the ancient castles and cobblestone sidewalks, it will be an experience you will never forget. This town boasts 89,000 people along with the 25,000 university students, and offers a variety of activities and experiences such as sidewalk cafes, small, family owned pubs, restaurants, shopping, and of course a beautiful sail on the Neckar waterfront while the sun sets.

Accommodation

Students will be housed in dormitories, private rooms, or apartments. The Housing Office at Tübingen will assist in helping students find suitable accommodations. Individual rooms share a kitchen and bathrooms within their floor. Most rooms come with internet access and tele-communications access. Internet access can also be found in various locations close to campus. Basic services and utilities are included in the rental prices. Washing machines and dryers are located inside the student halls and residences, and can be used for a small fee.
