This document outlines the estimated costs of studying abroad for the Fall 2023 semester. Students who will be studying on this program for the entire academic year should double relevant costs listed above (example: meals). For current and up-to-date costs, please check your host institution’s website. Also stay updated with exchange rates as they fluctuate on a daily basis. XE.com is an on-line currency converter.

In addition to the costs listed above, all Washington College students studying abroad pay Washington College tuition to Washington College for the semester abroad. All scholarships, grants, and loans stay active while abroad through a Washington College exchange program.

Special Notes:

• Housing with host family:  Monthly rent between $568.59 - $679.15, which includes some meals (breakfasts and some dinners)
• Internet Access:  charge only applies to homes with internet
• Student Registration Fee:  PUC-RIO Registration Fee is $88.06 for Intensive Language and $190.53 for Semester
• In-Country Health Insurance:  You must be able to show proof of international coverage from your insurance provider; If you do not have coverage, you should be able to find a temporary plan for around $50/month
• Registration with Police:  You must register with the Federal Police; there are two separate fees of $22.60 and $43.48
