University Overview

Ben-Gurion University of the Negev is the only Israeli university created to fulfill a unique nation-building mandate: to develop the Negev, its land and its people. International students are offered the chance to experience first hand why BGU is known to be the #1 choice university for Israeli undergraduates. BGU attracts first class, dynamic faculty from all over Israel, and indeed, the world. The University is located outside the city of Beer-Sheva, which is the capital city of the Negev Desert region and boasts of over 20,000 students.

Program Overview

The Center for International Student Program offers several concentrations in fields where BGU has particular strengths. These concentrations are designed to highlight areas in which students can find numerous courses available through the CISP, as well as fields in which students might wish to take internships and/or independent research classes.

For students with an interest in Israel, a program of study can be arranged through the NYC office of this top Israeli University.  The Center for International Student Program (CISP), in addition to offering you the chance to benefit from the tremendous wealth of academic potential at the University, takes you on numerous trips throughout the semester and year. The small size of the Program allows for more individual attention, and the staff is more than happy to assist students in any way possible.

Location

Ben-Gurion University of the Negev is located in the city of Beer Sheva—the capital of the Negev region. The Negev itself is part of an awe-inspiring desert that stretches from Egypt through the southern part of Israel to Jordan and Saudi Arabia. The city of Beer Sheva is one of the four largest cities in Israel. It lies between the southern Negev desert and the cultivated fields of the biblical lands of Judah to the north. Beer Sheva is a city of great historical significance, where thousands of years ago it offered the junction between East and West. Beer Sheva is a city that offers a glimpse at the ‘real’ Israel.

Accommodation

Students enrolled in semester or year long programs will live in the BGU dormitories located two minutes away from campus. In addition, students will be placed with Israeli roommates for the opportunity to gain knowledge about the culture and customs of Israel, and to as well make life long friendships. Dorms are single or double occupancy, and all dorms include a bed, desk, closet, bookshelf, and a chair. The complex of the dormitories also includes its own mini-market, a 24 hour computer lab, and student lounges.
